The verse teaches that approaching a sacred river associated with siddhas yields great religious merit—equated here with the fruit of a major sacrifice—and can lead to heavenly attainment, emphasizing the transformative value of tīrtha-pilgrimage and reverence for sanctified spaces.
In the context of the Vana Parva tīrtha descriptions, the speaker states the फलश्रुति (statement of spiritual benefit): one who reaches the Kampanā River, a place visited by siddhas, gains the merit of the Puṇḍarīka sacrifice and then goes to Svarga.
