Pulastya’s Instruction
पृथिव्यां यानि तीर्थानि अन्तरिक्षचराणि च । नद्यो हृदास्तडागाश्ष् सर्वप्र्नवणानि च,पृथ्वीपर और आकाशमें जितने तीर्थ, नदी, हृद, तड़ाग, सम्पूर्ण झरने, उदपान, बावली, तीर्थ और मन्दिर हैं, वे प्रत्येक मासकी अमावस्याको संनिहतीमें अवश्य पधारेंगे। तीर्थोका संघात या समूह होनेके कारण ही वह संनिहती नामसे विख्यात है
ghulastya uvāca | pṛthivyāṁ yāni tīrthāni antarīkṣa-carāṇi ca | nadyo hradās taḍāgāś ca sarva-prasravaṇāni ca |
Sinabi ni Ghūlastya: “Ang lahat ng mga tīrtha sa lupa, at yaong gumagalaw sa gitnang daigdig (kalangitan) din; ang mga ilog, lawa, latian, at bawat uri ng bukal—ang lahat ng ito’y tiyak na nagsasama-sama sa Saṁnihitī tuwing Amāvasyā (bagong buwan) ng bawat buwan. Sapagkat ito’y tagpuan at pagtitipon ng mga tīrtha, kaya ito’y tanyag sa pangalang Saṁnihitī.”
घुलस्त्य उवाच
The verse emphasizes the sanctity of tīrthas and the power of sacred time: on amāvasyā, Saṁnihitī is portrayed as a unique gathering-point where the merit of many pilgrimage sites is concentrated, encouraging disciplined observance and reverence for sacred places.
A speaker named Ghulastya describes the greatness of the tīrtha called Saṁnihitī, explaining why it is famous: all earthly and celestial tīrthas—along with rivers, lakes, ponds, and springs—are said to assemble there on each monthly new-moon day.
