क्रियामन्त्रैश्व संयुक्तो ब्राह्मण: स्यान्न संशय: । क्रियामन्त्रविहीनो5पि तत्र स्नात्वा नरर्षभ | चीर्णव्रतो भवेद्‌ विद्वान्‌ दृष्टमेतत्‌ पुरातनै:,कुरुकुलशिरोमणे! वहीं अर्धकील नामक तीर्थ है, जिसे पूर्वकालमें दर्भी मुनिने ब्राह्मणोंपर कृपा करनेके लिये प्रकट किया था। वहाँ व्रत, उपनयन और उपवास करनेसे मनुष्य कर्मकाण्ड और मन्त्रोंका ज्ञाता ब्राह्मण होता है, इसमें संशय नहीं है। नरश्रेष्ठ! क्रियाविहीन और मन्त्रहीन पुरुष भी उसमें स्नान करके व्रतका पालन करनेसे विद्वान्‌ होता है, यह बात प्राचीन महर्षियोंने प्रत्यक्ष देखी है

kriyāmantraiś ca saṃyukto brāhmaṇaḥ syān na saṃśayaḥ | kriyāmantravihīno ’pi tatra snātvā nararṣabha | cīrṇavrato bhaved vidvān dṛṣṭam etat purātanaiḥ | kurukulaśiromaṇe! tatraivārdhakīla-nāmakaṃ tīrthaṃ yat pūrvakāle darbhi-muninā brāhmaṇān prati kṛpārthaṃ prakaṭīkṛtam | tatra vrata-upanayana-upavāsaiḥ manuṣyaḥ karmakāṇḍa-mantrajño brāhmaṇo bhavati, nātra saṃśayaḥ | narottama! kriyāhīno mantrahīno ’pi tatra snātvā vrataṃ caritvā vidvān bhavati—iti prācīnaiḥ maharṣibhiḥ pratyakṣaṃ dṛṣṭam |

Sinabi ni Ghūlastya: “Ang may taglay na mga ritwal at mga mantrang Veda ay nagiging tunay na brāhmaṇa—walang alinlangan. Ngunit maging ang taong kapos sa kaalaman sa ritwal at walang mantra, O pinakamainam sa mga tao, kung maligo roon at ganap na tuparin ang panata, ay nagiging marunong; ito’y nakita ng mga sinaunang pantas sa sarili nilang mga mata, O hiyas ng angkan ng Kuru. Tunay ngang naroon ang banal na tawiran na tinatawag na Ardhakīla, na ipinahayag noong una ng resing si Darbhī dahil sa habag sa mga brāhmaṇa. Sa pagtanggap ng panata, sa pagsunod sa disiplina ng upanayana, at sa pag-aayuno sa pook na iyon, ang tao’y nagiging brāhmaṇa na bihasa sa ritwal at mantra—walang duda. Maging ang salat sa ritwal at mantra, sa pagligo roon at pag-iingat ng panata, ay nakakamit ang karunungan; ganyan ang patotoong nasaksihan ng mga matatanda.”
