Chapter 82
यस्य हस्तौ च पादौ च मनश्लैव सुसंयतम् | विद्या तपश्च कीर्तिश्व॒ स तीर्थफलमश्चुते,जिसके हाथ, पैर और मन अपने काबूमें हों तथा जो विद्या, तप और कीर्तिसे सम्पन्न हो, वही तीर्थसेवनका फल पाता है
yasya hastau ca pādau ca manaś caiva susaṁyatam | vidyā tapaś ca kīrtiś ca sa tīrthaphalam aśnute ||
Tanging yaong ang mga kamay at paa ay napipigil sa masama at ang isip ay mahigpit na napapailalim—yaong may taglay na kaalaman, tapas (pagpapakasakit), at mabuting pangalan—siya lamang ang tunay na nakakamit ng bunga ng pagdalaw sa tīrtha.
घुलस्त्य उवाच
Pilgrimage bears fruit only when accompanied by self-restraint: disciplined actions (hands), disciplined movement and conduct (feet), and a controlled mind, supported by learning, austerity, and honorable character.
Ghūlastya states a criterion for true tīrtha-benefit, redefining sacred travel as meaningful only for a person who practices inner and outer discipline and lives with knowledge, tapas, and good repute.
