Religious merit is accessible through sincere devotion and offerings made within one’s means (yathāśakti). The text emphasizes intention and capacity over extravagance, promising the fruit of a fully prosperous yajña to one who worships and offers properly at the sacred site.
A speaker (Ghūlastya) describes the efficacy of a holy place associated with Śiva. He instructs that bathing (as indicated in the prose context) and worshipping Śiva, then offering a caru according to one’s ability, grants the merit equivalent to a richly fulfilled sacrifice.
