Vidura’s Recall from Kāmyaka-vana and Reconciliation with Dhṛtarāṣṭra (विदुरानयनम् / क्षमायाचनम्)
duḥśāsana uvāca evam etan mahāprājña yathā vadasi mātula | nityaṃ hi me kathayatas tava buddhir virocate ||
The verse highlights the persuasive power of wise counsel and the social-ethical norm of respecting an elder’s judgment—treating sound advice as something that ‘shines’ (virocate) and should guide one’s decisions.
Duḥśāsana responds approvingly to his maternal uncle’s words, affirming that the uncle’s reasoning consistently appears clear and agreeable to him, signaling alignment with the uncle’s proposed view or plan.
