The verse frames ideal kingship and noble identity through dharma: Bhīma is introduced foremost as dharmātmā (righteous-minded), and Damayantī’s worth is conveyed as kalyāṇī (auspicious/virtuous) and viśrutā (renowned), suggesting that ethical character and good repute are central markers of true nobility.
A speaker named Yudeva identifies Damayantī by giving her lineage: she is the famous daughter of Bhīma, the righteous king of Vidarbha. This functions as a formal introduction within the Nala–Damayantī episode in the Vana Parva.
