Mātali’s Arrival and Arjuna’s Ascent toward Amarāvatī (मातलिसंयुक्तरथागमनम् तथा इन्द्रलोकगमनारम्भः)
तत्र सौगन्धिकानां च पुष्पाणां पुण्यगन्धिनाम् । उद्वीज्यमानो मिश्रेण वायुना पुण्यगन्धिना,वहाँ सुगन्धयुक्त कमल तथा पवित्र गन्धवाले अन्य पुष्पोंकी पवित्र गन्धसे मिली हुई वायु मानो व्यजन डुला रही थी
tatra saugandhikānāṁ ca puṣpāṇāṁ puṇyagandhinām | udvījyamāno miśreṇa vāyunā puṇyagandhinā ||
Doon, ang banal na halimuyak ng mga lotus na saugandhika at iba pang mababangong bulaklak ay pumuno sa hangin; at ang simoy na nahalo sa dalisay na amoy na iyon ay wari’y marahang nagpapaypay, na parang may humahampas ng seremonyal na pamaypay (chauri).
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights auspicious purity (puṇya-gandha) as a supportive atmosphere for dharmic living: a righteous path is aided by cleanliness, restraint, and reverence, symbolized by the sanctifying fragrance and gentle breeze.
Vaiśampāyana describes the setting: a place filled with the scent of saugandhika lotuses and other flowers, where the breeze, perfumed by that fragrance, seems to fan the area like a ceremonial whisk—an evocative scene-setting in the forest narrative.
