The verse highlights the awe-inspiring intensity of direct, hand-to-hand valor, and uses a mythic comparison (Vṛtra vs. Indra) to suggest that such contests carry a gravity beyond mere physical struggle—evoking ideals of courage, endurance, and the epic sense of consequence.
A fierce close-quarters fight continues for a brief period, marked by exchanges of arm-blows, and the narrator likens it to the legendary battle between Vṛtra and Indra to convey its ferocity and grandeur.
