Dharma-śaṅkā-nivāraṇa: Yudhiṣṭhira’s Response on Karma-Phala and Trust in Dharma
अथवा सिद्धिरेव स्यादभिमानं तदेव ते । वृकोदरस्य बीभत्सोर्भ्रोत्रोश्न यमयोरपि,अथवा यदि कार्यकी सिद्धि ही हो जाय, तो वह आपके, भीमसेन और अर्जुनके तथा नकुल-सहदेवके लिये भी विशेष गौरवकी बात होगी
athavā siddhir eva syād abhimānaṃ tad eva te | vṛkodarasya bībhatsor bhrātroś ca yamayor api ||
Wika ni Yudhiṣṭhira: “O kung ang tagumpay lamang ang makamtan, ang tagumpay na iyon mismo ang magiging dangal mo—isang natatanging luwalhati rin para kay Vṛkodara (Bhīma), kay Bībhatsu (Arjuna), at sa kambal na magkapatid, mga anak ni Yama (Nakula at Sahadeva).”
युधिछिर उवाच
Yudhiṣṭhira frames success (siddhi) not as private gain but as shared honour: an achievement by one becomes a moral and social credit for the whole fraternity, emphasizing collective responsibility and humility in accomplishment.
In the forest-exile setting of the Vana Parva, Yudhiṣṭhira encourages a companion by saying that even if only the intended task succeeds, that success itself will be a source of prestige—not only for the doer but also for Bhīma, Arjuna, and the twin brothers Nakula and Sahadeva.
