अध्याय ३० — क्रोधदोषाः क्षमाप्रशंसा च
Defects of Anger and the Praise of Forbearance
इष्टय: पशुबन्धाश्न काम्यनैमित्तिकाश्न ये । वर्तन्ते पाकयज्ञाश्ष यज्ञकर्म च नित्यदा,इष्टि (पूजा), पशुबन्ध (पशुओंको बाँधना), काम्य याग, नैमित्तिक याग, पाकयज्ञ तथा नित्ययज्ञ--ये सब भी आपके यहाँ बराबर चलते रहते हैं
iṣṭayaḥ paśubandhāś ca kāmyanaimittikāś ca ye | vartante pākayajñāś ca yajñakarma ca nityadā ||
Sinabi ni Yudhiṣṭhira: “Sa iyong tahanan, nagpapatuloy nang walang patid ang mga iṣṭi (mga handog), ang mga ritong paśubandha (pagbubuklod sa hayop na iaalay), ang mga sakripisyong ginagawa dahil sa pagnanais at yaong para sa tiyak na pagkakataon, ang mga pākayajña sa loob ng bahay, at ang mga araw-araw na tungkulin ng paghahandog.”
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse highlights the dharmic ideal of continuity in prescribed rites: daily (nitya), occasion-based (naimittika), and desire-motivated (kāmya) sacrifices, along with domestic pākayajñas, are presented as ongoing disciplines that sustain religious and social order.
Yudhiṣṭhira addresses his interlocutor and notes that in that person’s domain or household, a full range of sacrificial observances—major offerings, animal-rite procedures, special-purpose sacrifices, and daily domestic rites—are being maintained regularly, indicating prosperity and adherence to dharma.
