Sūrya-stava: Dhaumya’s Counsel and the Aṣṭaśata-nāma of Sūrya
वैशमग्पायन उवाच एवं स्तुतो महाराज भास्करो लोकभावन: । ततो दिवाकर: प्रीतो दर्शयामास पाण्डवम् | दीप्यमान: स्ववपुषा ज्वलन्निव हुताशन:,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--महाराज! जब युधिष्ठिरने लोकभावन भगवान् भास्करका इस प्रकार स्तवन किया, तब दिवाकरने प्रसन्न होकर उन पाण्डुकुमारको दर्शन दिया। उस समय उनके श्रीअंग प्रज्वलित अग्निके समान उद्भासित हो रहे थे
vaiśampāyana uvāca: evaṃ stuto mahārāja bhāskaro lokabhāvanaḥ | tato divākaraḥ prīto darśayāmāsa pāṇḍavam | dīpyamānaḥ svavapuṣā jvalann iva hutāśanaḥ ||
Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: “O dakilang hari, nang mapuri ni Yudhiṣṭhira sa gayong paraan si Bhāskara, ang tagapag-alaga ng daigdig, noon ang Divākara, na nalugod, ay nagpakita sa anak ni Pāṇḍu. Ang kanyang katawan ay nagliliyab sa ningning, na wari’y apoy na nag-aalab.”
वैशमग्पायन उवाच
Sincere stuti (praise) offered with reverence can draw divine grace; the Sun is portrayed as lokabhāvana—one who sustains the world—so honoring cosmic order aligns the devotee with dharma and invites protection and guidance.
After Yudhiṣṭhira (a Pāṇḍava) praises the Sun, the deity becomes pleased and grants him a direct vision, appearing in a blazing, fire-like radiance—signaling divine approval and the beginning of a boon-giving encounter.
