Sūrya-stava: Dhaumya’s Counsel and the Aṣṭaśata-nāma of Sūrya

त्वत्तेजसा कृतं॑ चक्र सुनाभं विश्वकर्मणा । देवारीणां मदो येन नाशित: शार्ज्र्धन्चना,ब्रद्मतोकसहित ऊपरके सातों लोकोंमें तथा अन्य सब लोकोंमें भी ऐसा कोई प्राणी नहीं दीखता जो आप भगवान्‌ सूर्यसे बढ़कर हो। भगवन्‌! जगतमें और भी बहुत-से महान्‌ शक्तिशाली प्राणी हैं; परंतु उनकी कान्ति और प्रभाव आपके समान नहीं हैं। सम्पूर्ण ज्योतिर्मय पदार्थ आपके ही अन्तर्गत हैं। आप ही समस्त ज्योतियोंके स्वामी हैं। सत्य, सत्त्व तथा समस्त सात्त्विक भाव आपमें ही प्रतिष्ठित हैं। 'शार्इ” नामक धनुष धारण करनेवाले भगवान्‌ विष्णुने जिसके द्वारा दैत्योंका घमंड चूर्ण किया है उस सुदर्शन चक्रको विश्वकर्माने आपके ही तेजसे बनाया है

tvattējasā kṛtaṃ cakraṃ sunābhaṃ viśvakarmaṇā | devārīṇāṃ mado yena nāśitaḥ śārṅgadhanvanā ||

Wika ni Yudhiṣṭhira: “Mula sa iyong sariling ningning, hinubog ni Viśvakarman ang cakra na may ganap na pusod. Sa Sudarśana na iyon, si Panginoong Viṣṇu—ang may hawak ng busog na Śārṅga—ay dumurog sa kayabangan ng mga kaaway ng mga diyos. Kaya ang iyong liwanag ang lihim na pinagmumulan sa likod ng mga sandatang banal na nagtataguyod ng kaayusan ng sansinukob at nagpapababa ng pagmamataas.”
