Adhiratha-Rādhā Discover the Casket; Vasuṣeṇa (Karṇa) is Adopted and Formed
वैदेह्या दर्शनेनो भौ प्रहर्ष समवापतु: । भरत और शशत्रुघ्नको भी उस समय बड़े भाईसे मिलकर तथा विदेहकुमारी सीताका दर्शन करके महान् हर्ष प्राप्त हुआ ।। ६४ ई ।। तस्मै तद् भरतो राज्यमागतायातिसत्कृतम् । न्यासं निर्यातयामास युक्त: परमया मुदा,फिर भरतजीने बड़ी प्रसन्नताके साथ अयोध्या पधारे हुए भगवान् श्रीरामको अपने पास धरोहरके रूपमें रखा हुआ (अयोध्याका) राज्य अत्यन्त सत्कारपूर्वक लौटा दिया
vaidehyā darśanena ubhau praharṣam avāpatuḥ | tasmai tad bharato rājyam āgatāyāti-satkṛtam | nyāsaṃ niryātayāmāsa yuktaḥ paramayā mudā ||
Sinabi ni Mārkaṇḍeya: “Nang makita nila si Vaidehī (Sītā), kapwa sila napuspos ng galak.” Pagkaraan, si Bharata, taglay ang sukdulang tuwa at diwang tapat na katiwala, ay ibinalik kay Rāma—na dumating na—ang kahariang maingat niyang iningatan bilang ipinagkatiwala, at inialay muli nang may pinakamataas na paggalang.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The passage highlights dharma in governance: power is not to be clung to but held as a trust (nyāsa) for the rightful ruler. Bharata’s ethical excellence lies in loyal stewardship, humility, and honoring legitimacy over personal ambition.
After Rāma’s arrival, Bharata (and Śatrughna) rejoice—especially upon seeing Sītā—and Bharata formally returns the royal authority of Ayodhyā to Rāma, treating the kingdom as a safeguarded deposit and offering it back with great respect and joy.
