Adhiratha-Rādhā Discover the Casket; Vasuṣeṇa (Karṇa) is Adopted and Formed
यदि ह्ुकामां सेवेत स्त्रियमन्यामपि ध्रुवम् । शतधास्य फलेन्मूर्था इत्युक्त: सो5भवत् पुरा,पूर्वकालमें रावणको यह शाप दिया गया था कि यदि यह उसे न चाहनेवाली किसी परायी स्त्रीका बलपूर्वक सेवन करेगा तो इसके मस्तकके सैकड़ों टुकड़े हो जायँगे
yadi hy akāmaṃ seveta striyam anyām api dhruvam | śatadhāsyā phalen mūrdhā ity uktaḥ so 'bhavat purā ||
Wika ni Varuṇa: “Kung sakali mang pilitin niya ang isang babaeng hindi siya ninanais—oo, kahit sinumang ibang babae—tiyak na mahahati ang kanyang ulo sa sandaang piraso.” Kaya noong unang panahon, ang sumpang ito ay ipinataw kay Rāvaṇa.
वरुण उवाच
The verse underscores a dharmic boundary: violating an unwilling woman is a grave adharma that invites inevitable, catastrophic consequence. It frames coercion as morally and cosmically punishable.
Varuṇa recalls an earlier curse placed upon Rāvaṇa: if he ever forces himself upon an unwilling woman—any woman other than one who consents—his head will split into a hundred pieces. The statement functions as a remembered constraint and warning within the story.
