Kuntī’s Regulated Hospitality to a Brāhmaṇa Guest
रामादीन् समरे सर्वाज्चहि शत्रूनरिंदम । 'शत्रुसूदन! तुम्हारे सिवा दूसरा कोई ऐसा नहीं है, जो उसको मार सके। बलवानोंमें श्रेष्ठ वीर! तुम शत्रुओंका दमन करनेवाले हो। आज कवच धारण करके निकलो तथा राम आदि समस्त शत्रुओंका समरभूमिमें संहार कर डालो
rāmādīn samare sarvān jahi śatrūn ariṃdama | śatrusūdana! tvatto 'nyaḥ ko 'pi nāsti ya enaṃ hantuṃ śaknoti | balavatāṃ śreṣṭha vīra! tvaṃ śatrūṇāṃ damana-kartā | adya kavacaṃ dhārayitvā niṣkrama, rāmādīn samastān śatrūn samarabhūmau saṃharasva ||
Wika ni Mārkaṇḍeya: “O manlulupig ng mga kaaway, patayin mo sa labanan ang lahat ng kaaway—si Rāma at ang iba pa. O tagapagpuksa ng kaaway, walang iba kundi ikaw ang makababagsak sa kaniya. Bayani, pinakamainam sa mga makapangyarihan, ikaw ang tagapagpaamo ng mga kalaban. Kaya ngayong araw, isuot mo ang baluti, lumabas ka, at sa larangan ng digmaan ay ipahamak si Rāma at ang buong hukbo ng mga kaaway.”
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The passage emphasizes decisive action in a righteous martial context: a capable warrior is urged to accept responsibility, arm himself, and confront hostile forces, reflecting the ideal of kṣatriya resolve and duty when conflict is unavoidable.
Mārkaṇḍeya addresses a warrior with epithets like Ariṃdama and Śatrusūdana, urging him to don armor, march out, and defeat Rāma and the other enemies on the battlefield, asserting that only he has the strength to accomplish this.
