Sāvitrī’s Dialogue with Yama and the Restoration of Satyavān
कुम्भकर्णादयश्नेमे नग्ना: पतितमूर्धजा: । गच्छन्ति दक्षिणामाशां रक्तमाल्यानुलेपना:,“उसके साथ ही ये कुम्भकर्ण आदि राक्षस भी मूँड़ मुड़ाये, लाल चन्दन लगाये, लाल फूलोंकी माला पहने, नंगे होकर दक्षिण दिशाकी ओर जा रहे हैं
kumbhakarṇādayaśneme nagnāḥ patitamūrdhajāḥ | gacchanti dakṣiṇām āśāṃ raktamālyānulepanāḥ ||
Wika ni Mārkaṇḍeya: “Ang mga rākṣasa na ito—mula kay Kumbhakarṇa—ay patungong timog, hubad, ahit ang ulo, pinahiran ng pulang pamahid, at may suot na kuwintas ng pulang bulaklak.”
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse uses ritual-visual markers (nakedness, shaven heads, red garlands/unguents, movement to the south) to convey moral consequence: those aligned with destructive, adharmic force are shown as heading toward ruin and death-associated destiny.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes a group of rākṣasas led by Kumbhakarṇa proceeding southward in an inauspicious state—naked and shaven-headed, adorned with red garlands and red smearing—suggesting a portentous march toward doom.
