Indrajit and Lakṣmaṇa: Escalation through Concealment
पलायनकृतोत्साह: प्राद्रवद् येन वै वनम् । सैन्धवं त्वभिसम्प्रेक्ष्य पराक्रान्तं पलायने
palāyanakṛtotsāhaḥ prādravad yena vai vanam | saindhavaṃ tv abhisamprekṣya parākrāntaṃ palāyane
Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: Siya na ang buong loob ay napaling na sa pagtakas ay tumakbo papasok sa gubat. Ngunit nang makita ang prinsipe ng Sindhu (Jayadratha) na nakapagsimula na sa pag-urong upang tumakas, ang pangyayari’y naging isang paghabol sa duwag na pag-atras—na nagpapakita na sa moral na kaayusan ng epiko, ang pagtakas na dulot ng takot ay nag-aanyaya ng kahihiyan at pagganti.
