कालप्राप्तमुपासीत सस्यानामिव कर्षक: । “अतः विवेकी पुरुषको उचित है कि प्राप्त हुए सुखका (त्यागपूर्वक) सेवन करे और स्वतः आये हुए दुःखका भार भी (टैर्यपूर्वक) वहन करे। जैसे किसान बीज बोकर समयके अनुसार प्रारब्धवश जितना अन्न मिलता है, उसे ग्रहण करता है; उसी प्रकार मनुष्य समय- समयपर दैववश प्राप्त हुए सुख तथा दुःखको स्वीकार करें

kālaprāptam upāsīta sasyānām iva karṣakaḥ |

Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: Dapat tanggapin at gamitin ang dumarating sa tamang panahon, gaya ng magsasaka sa kanyang ani. Kung paanong ang magsasaka, matapos maghasik, ay tumatanggap ng butil na nahihinog ayon sa panahon at tadhana, gayon din ang taong may pag-unawa: tikman ang ligayang dumarating (nang walang pagkapit) at tiising may pagtitimpi ang bigat ng dalamhating kusang dumarating—tinatanggap ang dalawa bilang itinakda ng panahon at kapalaran.
