जुद्वत्यग्नौ हवि: क्षीरं मन्त्रवत्‌ सुसमाहिता: । ब्राह्मणा वेदवेदाड़पारगा: सुदृढव्रता:,तब दृढ़तापूर्वक व्रतका पालन करनेवाले, वेद-वेदांगोंके पारंगत विद्वान्‌ ब्राह्मण एकाग्रचित्त हो मन्त्रोच्चारणपूर्वक प्रज्वलित अग्निमें घृत और खीरकी आहुति देने लगे

Vaiśampāyana uvāca: juhvaty agnau haviḥ kṣīraṃ mantravat susamāhitāḥ | brāhmaṇā vedavedāṅgapāragāḥ sudṛḍhavratāḥ ||

Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: Ang mga Brahmin—matatag sa kanilang mga panata, ganap na bihasa sa mga Veda at Vedāṅga—ay naupo nang nakatuon ang isip at, kasabay ng wastong pagbigkas ng mga mantra, nagsimulang maghandog ng ghee at kaning niluto sa gatas bilang mga alay sa naglalagablab na sagradong apoy.
