Duryodhana’s Fast: Śakuni’s Consolation and the Summoning of a Kṛtyā
अहमप्यद्य निश्चित्य गमनायेतराय च । कल्यमेव गमिष्यामि समीपं॑ पार्थिवस्यथ ह
aham apy adya niścitya gamanāyetarāya ca | kalyam eva gamiṣyāmi samīpaṃ pārthivasyātha ha ||
Wika ni Vaiśampāyana: “Ako man, matapos magpasya ngayong araw tungkol sa pag-alis at sa mga bagay na dapat pang tapusin, ay aalis bukas at haharap sa hari.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights niścaya (firm resolve) and timely action: one should decide clearly, complete what remains to be done, and approach rightful authority (the king) without delay—an ethic of responsibility and orderly conduct.
The speaker, Vaiśampāyana, states his settled intention: after deciding on departure and other pending matters, he will go the next day to meet the king, marking a transition toward an audience with royal authority.
