Chapter 220
चातुमस्यिषु यस्येष्टमश्वमेधेडग्रज: प्रभु: । दीप्तो ज्वालैरनेकाभैरग्निरेको5थ वीर्यवान्,चातुर्मास्य-सम्बन्धी यज्ञोंमें तथा अश्वमेध-यज्ञमें जिसका पूजन होता है, जो सर्वप्रथम उत्पन्न होनेवाला और सर्वसमर्थ है तथा जो अनेक वर्णकी ज्वालाओंसे प्रज्वलित है, वह अद्वितीय शक्तिशाली अग्नि ही शंयु है
cāturmāsyiṣu yasyaiṣṭam aśvamedhe ’grājaḥ prabhuḥ | dīpto jvālair anekābhir agnir eko ’tha vīryavān ||
Sinabi ni Mārkaṇḍeya: Sa mga ritong Cāturmāsya at sa handog na Aśvamedha, ang sinasamba—ang pinakamatanda, ang naghahari, at ganap ang kapangyarihan—ay nagliliyab bilang iisang makapangyarihang Apoy, sinisindihan ng maraming kulay na ningas. Ang natatangi at malakas na Agni na iyon ay si Śaṃyu nga.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse elevates Agni as the unique, primeval, and sovereign power central to Vedic sacrifice: many rites may differ, yet the sacred fire remains the single indispensable mediator of offerings, symbolizing ordered worship and disciplined dharma.
Mārkaṇḍeya identifies Śaṃyu with Agni, describing how this deity is honored in major sacrificial contexts (Cāturmāsya and Aśvamedha) and portraying Agni’s many-flamed radiance to affirm his singular might and ritual centrality.
