Guṇa-vibhāga and Prāṇa–Agni–Yoga Upadeśa (गुणविभाग तथा प्राण-अग्नि-योगोपदेश)
अथ शुश्राव राजर्षि तमुत्तड़को नराधिप । वनं सम्प्रस्थितं राजन बृहदश्व॑ द्विजोत्तम:,राजन! तदनन्तर द्विजश्रेष्ठ उत्तड़कने यह सुना कि राजर्षि बृहदश्व वनको चले जा रहे हैं
atha śuśrāva rājarṣi tam uttāḍako narādhipa | vanaṃ samprasthitaṃ rājan bṛhadaśvo dvijottamaḥ ||
Sinabi ni Mārkaṇḍeya: Pagkaraan nito, narinig ni Uttāḍaka, panginoon ng mga tao, na ang haring-muni na si Bṛhadaśva—ang pinakadakila sa mga brāhmaṇa—ay naglakbay na patungo sa gubat. Ang balitang ito ang nagtutulak sa salaysay: isang iginagalang na nakaaalam ng dharma ang kumikilos, at ang kaniyang paglalakbay ay nagiging pagkakataon para sa payo at pagtuturo.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
