मार्कण्डेय उवाच
Prosperity is portrayed as the outward sign of dharmic life: when people practice generosity (dāna) and self-discipline through vows and restraints (vrata, niyama), the world becomes orderly and fruitful, yielding abundance in every season.
Mārkaṇḍeya addresses a king (rājendra) and describes an ideal condition of the realm: universal agricultural abundance across all seasons and a populace committed to charity, vows, and disciplined conduct—an image of righteous governance and collective virtue.
