कृतयुगवर्णनम् तथा राजधर्मोपदेशः

मार्कण्डेय उदाच हन्त ते वर्णयिष्यामि नमस्कृत्वा स्वयम्भुवे । पुरुषाय पुराणाय शाश्वतायाव्ययाय च
Mārkaṇḍeya uvāca: hanta te varṇayiṣyāmi namaskṛtvā svayambhuve | puruṣāya purāṇāya śāśvatāyāvyayāya ca ||
Sinabi ni Mārkaṇḍeya: “Mabuti—makinig; ilalarawan ko ito sa iyo. Pagkaraang yumukod muna sa paggalang sa Panginoong Sariling-Silang, sa Sinaunang Purusha—walang hanggan at di-nasisira—saka ako magsisimula.”
