समाश्रयं समाचारं समज्ञानं च केवलम् । तदा हि समकर्माणो वर्णा धर्मानवाप्तुवन्,उस समय परब्रह्म परमात्मा ही सबके एकमात्र आश्रय थे। उन्हींकी प्राप्तिके लिये सदाचारका पालन किया जाता था। सब लोग एक परमात्माका ही ज्ञान प्राप्त करते थे। सभी वर्णोके मनुष्य परब्रह्म परमात्माके उद्देश्यसे ही समस्त सत्कर्मोंका अनुष्ठान करते थे और इस प्रकार उन्हें उत्तम धर्म-फलकी प्राप्ति होती थी
samāśrayaṃ samācāraṃ samajñānaṃ ca kevalam | tadā hi samakarmāṇo varṇā dharmānavāptuvan ||
Wika ni Bhima: “Noong unang kapanahunan, ang Kataas-taasang Brahman lamang ang iisang kanlungan. Upang marating Siya, pinanghawakan ng mga tao ang wastong asal; hinanap nila ang iisang, di-nahahating kaalaman tungkol sa Kataas-taasan. Noon, ang mga tao mula sa lahat ng antas (varṇa), na ginagampanan ang kanilang tungkulin nang pantay at may pagkakaisa ng diwa, ay nagkamit ng mga bunga ng dharma.”
भीम उवाच
That true dharma is grounded in taking the Supreme Brahman as the sole refuge, cultivating right conduct for His attainment, and holding a unified spiritual knowledge; when actions are performed in a balanced, duty-aligned way, dharma’s fruits naturally follow.
Bhima is describing an earlier ideal condition (a remembered ‘former age’) in which all varṇas lived with shared spiritual orientation: ethical conduct and duty were practiced primarily for realizing the Supreme, leading to the attainment of dharma and its benefits.
