अध्याय १४९ — हनूमतो महद्रूपदर्शनं तथा धर्म-नीति-उपदेशः
Hanūmān’s Vast Form and Instruction on Dharma–Statecraft
धर्षयेद् वा शपेद् वापि मा कश्चिदिति भारत । दिव्यो देवपथो होष नात्र गच्छन्ति मानुषा: । यदर्थमागतश्चासि अत एव सरश्न तत्,कुरुनन्दन! यह मार्ग मनुष्योंके लिये अगम्य है। अतः इस देवसेवित पथको मैंने इसीलिये तुम्हारे लिये रोक दिया था कि इस मार्गसे जानेपर कोई तुम्हारा तिरस्कार न कर दे या शाप न दे दे; क्योंकि यह दिव्य देवमार्ग है। इसपर मनुष्य नहीं जाते हैं। भारत! तुम जहाँ जानेके लिये आये हो वह सरोवर तो यहीं है
dharṣayed vā śaped vāpi mā kaścid iti bhārata | divyo devapatho hy eṣa nātra gacchanti mānuṣāḥ | yadartham āgataś cāsi ata eva saras tva tat, kurunandana ||
Sinabi ni Vaiśaṃpāyana: “O Bhārata, hinarangan ko ang daang ito upang walang sinumang makapang-insulto o makapagbitiw ng sumpa sa iyo. Ito’y banal na landas, daang dinaraanan ng mga diyos; hindi ito nilalakaran ng mga tao. At ang lawa na iyong pinunta, O ligaya ng angkan ng Kuru, ay narito mismo.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores a dharmic caution about boundaries: certain realms and routes are designated as divine, and humans should not intrude casually. It also highlights ethical speech—insult and curse are potent harms—so restraint and protection from such harm are presented as a legitimate reason to restrict access.
Vaiśaṃpāyana explains that a particular route is a gods’ pathway, not meant for humans. He says he blocked it to prevent the traveler from being insulted or cursed, and then directs him to the nearby lake that is the true destination.
