Gandhamādana-praveśa and the Sudden Storm (गन्धमादनप्रवेशः — चण्डवातवर्षवर्णनम्)
सा वै व्यथितसर्वाज्डी भारेणाक्रान्तचेतना । नारायणं वरं देवं प्रपन्ना शरणं गता,भारी भारके कारण पृथ्वी देवीके सम्पूर्ण अंगोंमें बड़ी पीड़ा हो रही थी। उसकी चेतना लुप्त होती जा रही थी। अतः वह सर्वश्रेष्ठ देवता भगवान् नारायणकी शरणमें गयी
sā vai vyathita-sarvāṅgī bhāreṇākrānta-cetanā | nārāyaṇaṁ varaṁ devaṁ prapannā śaraṇaṁ gatā ||
Nanginig sa sakit ang buo niyang katawan, at ang kanyang diwa’y nalunod sa bigat na dumudurog. Kaya ang Diyosa ng Daigdig ay humingi ng kanlungan—nagpasakop kay Nārāyaṇa, ang Kataas-taasang Panginoong banal—bilang tagapagtanggol at huling sandigan.
लोगमश उवाच
When the weight of suffering becomes unbearable, the epic presents śaraṇāgati—humble surrender to the supreme divine protector—as the highest recourse. The verse frames refuge not as escape, but as alignment with a sustaining cosmic order that can relieve an otherwise unmanageable burden.
Lomāśa describes the Earth-goddess as afflicted in every limb and mentally crushed by an immense burden. In response, she approaches and surrenders to Nārāyaṇa, seeking divine intervention and protection.
