Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how a warrior’s vow of punishment can become a public spectacle of power. Ethically, it points to the dharmic tension between justified retribution against wrongdoers and the danger of wrath expanding into indiscriminate violence (“all the Kurus”), demanding discernment and restraint even in a kṣatriya context.

Baladeva declares that he will kill Duryodhana along with all his followers and even all the Kurus, and he calls upon the assembled, battle-excited mighty warriors to witness him standing armed and ready. It is a forceful proclamation of intended intervention and a challenge meant to be seen by others.
