Kṛṣṇa at Duryodhana’s House: Refusal of Hospitality and Departure to Vidura (कृष्णस्य धार्तराष्ट्रनिवेशनगमनम्)
महाभिजनसम्पन्ना सर्वकामै: सुपूजिता । ईश्वरी सर्वकल्याणी द्रौपदी कथमच्युत
mahābhijanasampannā sarvakāmaiḥ supūjitā | īśvarī sarvakalyāṇī draupadī katham acyuta ||
Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: “O Acyuta, kumusta na ngayon si Draupadī—siya na isinilang sa pinakadakilang angkan, puspos ng dangal ng marangal na lahi, pinararangalan sa lahat ng kanais-nais na handog, isang reyna, at mapalad sa bawat paraan?”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse foregrounds the ethical duty to remember and inquire after the welfare of those who are honorable and vulnerable—especially a revered queen like Draupadī—highlighting respect (pūjā), concern, and the moral weight of her situation in the unfolding conflict.
In the Udyoga Parva’s pre-war deliberations, the narrator Vaiśampāyana reports a question addressed to Kṛṣṇa (Acyuta): an anxious inquiry about Draupadī’s present condition, emphasizing her noble birth, honored status, and auspicious qualities.
