Kuntī’s Lament and Govinda’s Consolation
न च कश्चिद् गृहे राजंस्तदा55सीद् भरतर्षभ । नस््त्री न वृद्धो न शिशुर्वासुदेवदिदृक्षया,भरतश्रेष्ठ] उस समय भगवान् वासुदेवके दर्शनकी तीव्र इच्छाके कारण स्त्री, बालक अथवा वृद्ध कोई भी घरमें नहीं ठहर सका
na ca kaścid gṛhe rājan tadā āsīd bharatarṣabha | na strī na vṛddho na śiśur vāsudeva-didṛkṣayā ||
Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: “O Hari, O toro sa angkan ng Bharata, noon ay walang naiwan sa bahay. Sa tindi ng pagnanais na masilayan si Vāsudeva, ni babae, ni matanda, ni maging bata ay hindi nakapagpaiwan.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the magnetic moral and spiritual authority attributed to Vāsudeva: the community’s shared longing to see him overrides ordinary domestic routines, suggesting that reverence for a dharmic guide can unify all ages and social roles.
As events in the Udyoga Parva intensify, Vāsudeva’s presence draws the populace so strongly that no one—women, elders, or children—stays at home; everyone goes out to catch sight of him.
