Draupadī–Kṛṣṇa Dialogue on Settlement and Daṇḍa
न जानासि यथा दृष्टवा चीराजिनधरान् वने । तवापि मन्युरुद्धूतो दुःखितानू प्रेक्ष्य पाण्डवान्
na jānāsi yathā dṛṣṭvā cīrājinadharān vane | tavāpi manyur uddhūto duḥkhitānū prekṣya pāṇḍavān |
Sabi ni Sahadeva: “Nakalimot ka na ba? Nang makita mo ang mga Pāṇḍava sa gubat—nakasuot ng balat ng punò at balat ng usa, lugmok sa dalamhati—sumiklab din ang galit mo, hindi ba?”
सहदेव उवाच
The verse highlights that anger can be ethically grounded when it arises from witnessing adharma—unjust suffering of the innocent—and should be remembered as a motive for upholding justice rather than ignored or suppressed into inaction.
Sahadeva reminds his listener that earlier, seeing the Pāṇḍavas in forest exile wearing ascetic garments and suffering, the listener’s indignation had flared; he uses this recollection to press for renewed resolve against the wrong done to them.
