Udyoga-parva Adhyāya 71 — Kṣatra-dharma Counsel, Public Legitimacy, and Mobilization

प्रज्ञालाभे हि पुरुष: शास्त्राण्येवान्ववेक्षते । शास्त्रनिष्ठ: पुनर्धर्म तस्य हीरड्रमुत्तमम्‌

prajñālābhe hi puruṣaḥ śāstrāṇy evānuvīkṣate | śāstraniṣṭhaḥ punaḥ dharmaṃ tasya hīḍram uttamam ||

Sinabi ni Yudhiṣṭhira: “Kapag natamo ng tao ang tunay na pag-unawa, sa śāstra lamang siya tumitingin bilang gabay. Kapag matatag sa kapangyarihan ng śāstra, muli siyang kumikilos ayon sa dharma. Para sa gayong tao, ang pinakamainam na palamuti ay ang kahinhinan at hiya (lajjā): likas itong kasama ng dharma, inilalayo ang isip sa kasalanan sa pamamagitan ng pag-ayaw dito, at sa gayon ay nagiging sanhi ng pagdami ng kanyang kasaganaan at dangal.”
