Sainyasaṅgraha and Bhāga-Vyavasthā (Forces Assembled and Rival Allocations) | सैन्यसंग्रह-भागव्यवस्था
दुर्योधन उवाच उभौ स्व एकजातीयौ तथोभौ भूमिगोचरीौ । अथ कस्मात् पाण्डवानामेकतो मन्यसे जयम्,दुर्योधन बोला--पिताजी! हम कौरव तथा पाण्डव दोनों एक ही जातिके हैं और दोनों इसी भूमिपर रहते हैं। फिर एकमात्र पाण्डवोंकी ही विजय होगी, यह धारणा आपने कैसे बना ली?
duryodhana uvāca | ubhau sva-ekajātīyau tathobhau bhūmi-gocarau | atha kasmāt pāṇḍavānām ekato manyase jayam |
Wika ni Duryodhana: “Ama, iisa ang aming angkan—kapwa ang mga Kaurava at ang mga Pāṇḍava—at kapwa rin kaming nabubuhay at kumikilos sa iisang lupaing ito. Kung gayon, bakit mo nabuo ang paniniwalang sa mga Pāṇḍava lamang mapupunta ang tagumpay?”
दुर्योधन उवाच
Shared birth, clan, or worldly parity does not guarantee equal outcomes; Duryodhana challenges a moral-ethical judgment that victory aligns with the side perceived as more righteous (dharma), revealing his reliance on lineage and power rather than ethical causality.
In the Udyoga Parva, as war becomes imminent, Duryodhana addresses his father (Dhṛtarāṣṭra) and questions why he believes the Pāṇḍavas will win, arguing that both factions are of the same family and live in the same land.
