Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the moral danger of warlike certainty and taunting speech: confident claims of total victory and urging others to indulge in pleasures ‘before it is too late’ underscore impermanence and the ethical weight of words that inflame conflict.

In the Udyoga Parva’s pre-war negotiations and messaging, a speaker (reported by Sañjaya) voices a stark threat: he will kill the Kauravas along with Karṇa and seize the entire Kuru kingdom, urging the opponents to finish remaining obligations and enjoy domestic pleasures while they still can.
