Sanatsujāta-Āhvāna (Summoning Sanatsujāta) — Vidura’s Invocation and Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Doubt

प्रमादाद्‌ वै असुरा: पराभव- न्नप्रमादाद्‌ ब्रह्मभूता: सुराश्ष । नैव मृत्युर्व्याघ्र इवात्ति जन्तून्‌ न हास्य रूपमुपलभ्यते हि

pramādād vai asurāḥ parābhavan na pramādād brahmabhūtāḥ surāḥ | naiva mṛtyur vyāghra ivātti jantūn na hāsya rūpam upalabhyate hi ||

Itinuturo ni Sanatsujāta na ang asal-asurang pagkiling ay napapahamak dahil sa kawalang-ingat, samantalang ang asal-debang pagkiling ay umaabot sa kalagayang tulad ng Brahman sa pamamagitan ng pagbabantay at pagkamalay. Ang kamatayan, wika niya, ay hindi hayagang lumalamon sa mga nilalang na gaya ng tigre, sapagkat ang kamatayan ay walang anyong tuwirang nakikita; nanaig ito sa pamamagitan ng panloob na sanhi—ang kapabayaan—hindi sa pamamagitan ng isang nakikitang anyong mahahawakan.
