Vidura-nīti: Atithi-dharma, Trust, Counsel-Secrecy, and Traits of Sustainable Rule
Udyoga Parva, Adhyāya 38
A king should practice upright, respectful conduct toward the righteous (here, the Pāṇḍavas); ethical alliance and fair treatment create both moral legitimacy and strategic security, making one difficult for enemies to overcome.
In Udyoga Parva, Vidura counsels the Kuru king (Dhṛtarāṣṭra) to treat the Pāṇḍavas properly; he argues that if the king stands with them and is protected by them, hostile forces will not be able to harm him.
