उद्योगपर्व — अध्याय 33: धृतराष्ट्र-विदुर संवादः (विदुरनीतिः)

अनर्थमर्थतः पश्यन्नर्थ चैवाप्यनर्थत: । इन्द्रियेरजितैर्बाल: सुदुःखं मनन्‍्यते सुखम्‌,इन्द्रियोंको वशमें न रखनेके कारण अर्थको अनर्थ और अनर्थको अर्थ समझकर अज्ञानी पुरुष बहुत बड़े दुःखको भी सुख मान बैठता है

anartham arthataḥ paśyann arthaṃ caivāpy anarthataḥ | indriyer ajitair bālaḥ suduḥkhaṃ manyate sukham ||

Sabi ni Vidura: Ang mangmang na hindi nagwawagi sa kanyang mga pandama ay nakikita ang kapinsalaan na para bang kapakinabangan, at ang tunay na kapakinabangan na para bang kapinsalaan; kaya’t dahil binabaluktot ng mga pandamang walang pagpipigil ang kanyang paghatol, itinuturing pa niya ang matinding pagdurusa bilang kaligayahan.
