Bhishma’s Account of Parashurama’s Challenge and the March to Kurukshetra
अभिषातप्रभावाच्च पावक: समजायत | उस समय वायुके कम्पन और सूर्यकी किरणोंसे समस्त बाण परस्पर टकराने लगे। उनकी रगड़से वहाँ आग प्रकट हो गयी
abhiṣātaprabhāvāc ca pāvakaḥ samajāyata |
Wika ni Bhīṣma: “At dahil sa lakas ng salpukan at pagkikiskisan, sumiklab ang apoy.” Noon, sa pagyanig ng hangin at sa sinag ng araw, nagbanggaan ang lahat ng palaso; mula sa pagkikiskisang iyon, lumitaw ang apoy sa pook na iyon.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse underscores how violence multiplies: when aggression meets aggression, the very collision produces further harm—symbolized by fire arising from impact—suggesting the ethical warning that conflict tends to escalate beyond intention.
Bhīṣma describes a battle-like scene where, through the force of repeated strikes (and implied friction/collision), fire manifests—an image of the battlefield’s intensity and the destructive chain-reaction of clashing weapons.
