Bhishma’s Account of Parashurama’s Challenge and the March to Kurukshetra
ततो दिवि महान् नाद: प्रादुरासीत्ू समन्ततः
tato divi mahān nādaḥ prādurāsīt samantataḥ | tasminn eva kāle mayā jamadagnikumāre vāyavyāstrasya prayogaḥ kṛtaḥ | bhārata paraśurāmaḥ guhūkāstreṇa mama tad astram upaśamayāmāsa |
Pagkatapos, sa kalangitan sa lahat ng panig, biglang sumiklab ang isang napakalakas na ugong. Sa mismong sandaling iyon, inilunsad ko ang sandatang Vāyavya laban sa anak ni Jamadagni. O Bharata, pinayapa ni Paraśurāma ang sandatang iyon sa pamamagitan ng sandatang Guhūka.
भीष्म उवाच
Even in extreme conflict, power must be governed by dharma: divine weapons are deployed with discipline and are countered without indiscriminate destruction, reflecting restraint and responsibility in warfare.
A great celestial tumult arises; Bhishma discharges the Vāyavya weapon at Parashurama, and Parashurama neutralizes it using the Guhūka weapon, showing parity of martial-spiritual prowess and the use of counter-astras.
