The verse highlights the ethical tension between authority and autonomy: when a revered figure’s command is rejected, anger can escalate into violence. It implicitly warns that unchecked wrath and insistence on obedience can threaten dharma by turning disputes into destructive warfare.
Rāma (Paraśurāma) declares that if Bhīṣma, identified as the son of Gaṅgā (Jāhnavī), refuses to follow his instruction, he will confront him in battle and destroy him along with his supporters through the power of his weapons—an explicit threat that intensifies their conflict.
