भीष्म: पुरुषमानी च जितकाशी तथैव च । तस्मात् प्रतिक्रिया युक्ता भीष्मे कारयितुं तव,भीष्मको अपने पुरुषार्थका अभिमान है और वे इस समय अपनी विजयसे उललसित हो रहे हैं। अत: भीष्मसे ही बदला लेना तुम्हारे लिये उचित होगा
bhīṣmaḥ puruṣamānī ca jitakāśī tathaiva ca | tasmāt pratikriyā yuktā bhīṣme kārayituṃ tava ||
Sinabi ni Akṛtavraṇa: “Si Bhīṣma ay mapagmataas sa kanyang lakas at pagkalalaki, at ngayon ay nagdiriwang sa kanyang tagumpay. Kaya nararapat na ang paghihiganti ay ipagawa mo laban kay Bhīṣma mismo.”
अकृतव्रण उवाच

Akṛtavraṇa comments on Bhīṣma’s current mood—confident and elated after success—and advises that any intended countermeasure or revenge should be aimed specifically at Bhīṣma, implying he is the key figure whose defeat would answer the affront and shift the balance.
