Amba approaches the Paraśurāma context; Hotravāhana’s counsel and Akṛtavraṇa’s report (अम्बोपाख्यानम्—रामदर्शनप्रसङ्गः)
api nāmādya paśyeyam ārya taṃ lokaviśrutam | kathaṃ ca tīvra duḥkhaṃ me nāśayiṣyati bhārgavaḥ | etad icchāmy ahaṃ jñātuṃ yathā yāsyāmi tatra vai ||
In moments of acute distress, one should seek clarity and right guidance from a truly noble and renowned authority, not merely out of desperation but to understand the proper course of action (yathā yāsyāmi) and the means by which suffering may be resolved.
Bhīṣma expresses a hopeful uncertainty about obtaining an audience with the world-famous noble Bhārgava (Paraśurāma) and asks how Paraśurāma will remove his intense sorrow; he wants this information so he can decide to go to him.
