भीष्म–दुर्योधनसंवादः — शिखण्डिनं न हन्तुं कारणकथनम्

Amba-ākhyāna prologue

योत्स्यन्ते समरे तात संरब्धा इव कुञ्जरा: । जयन्त, अमितौजा और महारथी सत्यजित--ये सभी पांचालशिरोमणि महामनस्वी वीर महारथी ही हैं। तात! ये सब-के-सब क्रोधमें भरे हुए गजराजोंकी भाँति समरभूमिमें युद्ध करेंगे ।। ११ है ।। अजो भोज क्ष विक्रान्तौ पाण्डवार्थे महारथौ

yotsyante samare tāta saṁrabdhā iva kuñjarāḥ | jayanta amitaujā ca mahārathī satyajit—ete sarve pāñcāla-śiromaṇayaḥ mahāmanasvino vīrā mahārathā eva | tāta! ete sarve krodha-pūrṇā gajarājā iva samara-bhūmau yuddhaṁ kariṣyanti || (11) || ajo bhojaś ca vikrāntau pāṇḍavārthe mahārathau ||

Wika ni Bhīṣma: “Anak ko, sa labanan ay makikipaghamok sila na parang mga elepanteng nagngangalit. Sina Jayanta, ang makapangyarihang Amitaujā, at si Satyajit—ang dakilang mandirigmang karwahe—ay pawang mga hiyas ng Pāñcāla, mga bayani ng mataas na loob, tunay na mahāratha. Tunay nga, silang lahat, puspos ng poot, ay lalaban sa parang na gaya ng mga panginoong elepante. At sina Aja at Bhoja rin—mga matapang na mahāratha—ay makikipaglaban para sa adhikain ng mga Pāṇḍava.”
