The verse criticizes arrogance founded on borrowed power: claiming greatness through others’ strength and using that borrowed backing to intimidate is ethically hollow and dishonorable.
Sanjaya reports a sharp taunt directed at an opponent who boasts loudly. The speaker points out that the person is not truly strong on his own and is only emboldened by the might of allies, yet still dares to threaten ‘us’.
