मया विश्राविते वाक््ये जहास धृतराष्ट्रज: । अथ भीष्म: सुसंक्रुद्ध इदं वचनमब्रवीत्,मैंने जब अपनी बात दुर्योधनसे सुनायी, तब वह हँसने लगा। यह देख भीष्मजी अत्यन्त कुपित हो उससे इस प्रकार बोले--
mayā viśrāvite vākye jahāsa dhṛtarāṣṭrajaḥ | atha bhīṣmaḥ susaṃkruddha idaṃ vacanam abravīt |
Nang maiparating ang aking mensahe, biglang tumawa nang malakas ang anak ni Dhṛtarāṣṭra. Nang makita ito, si Bhīṣma ay nag-alab sa galit at nagsalita sa kanya ng mga salitang ganito.
वायुदेव उवाच
Mockery of wise counsel and moral warning is portrayed as a sign of arrogance (mada) and ethical blindness; it invites stern correction from elders and accelerates adharma’s consequences, here pushing events closer to inevitable conflict.
Vāyudeva reports that after his message was delivered, Duryodhana laughed. Bhīṣma, witnessing this disrespect and obstinacy, becomes intensely angry and begins to speak—setting up a rebuke or admonition in the following verses.
