Educational Q&A

True success is not merely personal gain: when one pursues one’s aims through nīti (upright, prudent means) and the outcome also benefits and strengthens others, the achievement of one’s objective becomes steady and assured.

In the Udyoga Parva’s counsel-oriented setting, the speaker (identified as “the son”) states a general maxim of conduct: a person whose successful undertaking brings welfare to associates, and who proceeds by proper policy, is certain to accomplish his intended goal.
