Udyoga Parva — Gandhārī’s Counsel to Duryodhana
जानन्ति कुरव: सर्वे यथोक्ता: कुरुसंसदि । दुःशासनेन कौन्तेया: प्रव्रजन्त: परंतपा:,“जिस समय शत्रुओंको संताप देनेवाले कुन्तीकुमार पाण्डव वनको जा रहे थे, उस समय दुःशासनने कौरवसभामें उनके प्रति जैसी कठोर बातें कही थीं, उन्हें सभी कौरव जानते हैं
vaiśampāyana uvāca | jānanti kuravaḥ sarve yathoktāḥ kurusaṃsadi | duḥśāsanena kaunteyāḥ pravrajantaḥ paraṃtapāḥ |
Wika ni Vaiśampāyana: Alam ng lahat ng Kuru ang mga salitang binigkas sa kapulungan ng Kuru—yaong malulupit na pananalitang sinabi ni Duḥśāsana—noong ang mga Pāṇḍava, mga anak ni Kuntī, na sinusunog ng kawalang-katarungan ngunit kinatatakutan ng mga kaaway, ay papaalis na tungo sa pagkatapon sa gubat.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights ethical accountability in public life: when cruelty and injustice are committed in an open court, the entire assembly becomes witness to the wrong. Knowing what was said and done implies moral awareness, and silence or complicity in such moments becomes part of the adharma that fuels later conflict.
Vaiśampāyana recalls that the Kurus all remember the severe, insulting remarks Duḥśāsana made in the Kuru court when the Pāṇḍavas were being driven to depart for the forest in exile. This remembrance frames the background of grievance and the moral stain on the Kaurava court.
