Mahabharata — Svargarohana Parva, Shloka 69

आश्चमेधिकमासाद्य भोजन सार्वकामिकम्‌ | शान्तिपर्वमें भी ब्राह्मणोंको हविष्य भोजन कराये। आश्वमेधिकपर्वमें पहुँचनेपर सबकी रुचिके अनुकूल उत्तम भोजन दे ।।

aśvamedhikam āsādya bhojanaṃ sārvakāmikam | śāntiparvaṇi brāhmaṇān haviṣyabhojanaṃ kārayet | aśvamedhikaparvaṇi prāpte sarvasya rucy-anukūlam uttamaṃ bhojanaṃ dadyāt || tathā śramanivāse tu haviṣyaṃ bhojayet dvijān ||

Wika ni Vaiśampāyana: Pagdating sa bahaging tumatalakay sa Aśvamedha, dapat maghandog ng pagkain na tumutugon sa lahat ng makatarungang pagnanais. Sa Śānti-parvan, ang mga Brahmana ay dapat pakainin ng haviṣya—dalisay na pagkaing panghandog sa sakripisyo. At pagdating sa Aśvamedha-parvan, magbigay ng pinakamainam na pagkain na angkop sa panlasa ng bawat isa. Gayundin, sa pahingahan ng mga napapagod, pakainin ang mga dvija (mga “dalawang ulit na isinilang”) ng haviṣya.
