Svargārohaṇa-parva Adhyāya 5 — Karmaphala-Nirdeśa and Phalāśruti (कर्मफलनिर्देशः फलश्रुतिश्च)

नित्यसिद्ध मोक्षस्वरूप भगवान्‌ कृष्णद्वैपायनने धर्मकी कामनासे इस महाभारतसंदर्भकी रचना की है ।।

vaiśampāyana uvāca |

ṣaṣṭiṁ śata-sahasrāṇi cakārānyāṁ sa saṁhitām |

triṁśac-chata-sahasrāṇi deva-loke pratiṣṭhitam |

Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: “Ang pinagpalang Kṛṣṇa Dvaipāyana (Vyāsa), na ang likas na anyo ay ang laging ganap na mokṣa, ay lumikha ng pagkakabuo ng Mahābhārata na ito dahil sa pagnanais sa dharma. Una, gumawa siya ng isang saṃhitā na may anim na milyong śloka; sa mga iyon, tatlong milyong śloka ang naitatag at lumaganap sa daigdig ng mga deva. (May iba pang mga salin na umiiral sa daigdig ng mga Pitṛ at ng mga Yakṣa, samantalang ang bersiyong may isang daang libong śloka ang kumalat sa mga tao.)”
